Kennewick Police Standoff

KENNEWICK, Wash. - A standoff with Kennewick police landed two teens in jail.

Police surrounded a home just off of Kennewick Avenue for about a half an hour Sunday morning.  Police said a neighbor called police when they saw two teens climbing through a back window.

When police arrived the teens reportedly refused to come out of the house.  Police said the teens told them the house belonged to a relative.  Police confirmed that with the owners but said the teens should have come out when they were first contacted by police.

Sergeant Scott Child said, "We could have wrapped this up without a problem if they just would have followed out directions."

Police think the teens did not come out at first because one of them had a warrant for their arrest.

Police praised the neighbor that called in and said watchful neighbors can play a big role in stopping home break-ins.
