Gun Turns Domestic Dispute Serious

KENNEWICK, Wash.- Kennewick Police arrested a man Tuesday morning after a domestic dispute involving a gun.

Police responded to an apartment complex at West Albany Court after reports of a fight involving a gun.

Everyone involved was detained.  A search of an empty apartment turned up a bag with a 9 mm pistol and some drugs.

Police say the number of witnesses in this case added to the situation.

"It's just like a rumor, I mean, things start to build, but once we spent a little time here, got people separated, calmed down, found out what they each saw, we were able to get things solved here, and, we have the gun, nobody's been hurt, so that's the big thing," said Sgt. Brian Swartswalter.

Police say a gun ramps the intensity of these situations up significantly.

A female victim had minor injuries in the dispute.

No one was taken to the hospital and a 17-year-old male was arrested.
