211 Could Expand Service to 24/7

YAKIMA, Wash. - Central Washington's 211 service could be keeping its lines open 24/7.  211's Project Coordinator Amy Peters recently went to Olympia with Yakima Police Chief Sam Granato to seek eight million dollars in funding.

211's a non profit organization that helps answers questions and refers callers to different services. 911 handles all emergency calls, 211 takes the non-emergency calls.

Right now, 211 in Yakima is open from 7AM-6PM, but 211 says they can better assist both 911 and callers if they have the money to stay open 24/7.
