State Patrol Emphasizing Gore Points

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.- The Washington State Patrol is warning drivers that it's a $388 fine for merging onto a highway before the gore point.

A gore point is spot where the left hand edge of the onramp and right edge of the freeway meet.

Drivers could face even stiffer penalties if their actions cause a problem.

A nearly $600 fine could be assessed for Negligent Driving 2nd Degree in certain situations, not including whatever costs an accident might incur.
