ELLENSBURG, Wash -- The fire is out in Ellensburg but its affects are still being felt by surrounding businesses.
Kevin Johnson, of D & M Motors & Towing, began his day at about 2:00am Tuesday morning.
"We were contacted by the Ellensburg Fire Department to remove two vehicles that were right next to the building that was on fire," said Johnson.
Since then, he has had to deal with heavy smoke, closed roads and fewer customers coming into his business. A problem shared by others in the area.
By 9am, Ellensburg Embroidery would normally have several customers coming through the door, but not today.
However, both businesses are lucky they are open.
Many businesses were forced to close because of the smoke and closed roads
Fire officials say the heavy black smoke pouring through town is not hazardous. Still they warned the hospital just down the street to keep their windows closed.
