PASCO, Wash. - The Franklin County Prosecutor said Martin Vaal Lopez was arrested for the murder of Beatris Pulido Padilla last week in Mexico.
Prosecutor Steve Lowe said it is now up to the Mexican Court system to determine if he will be sent back to Franklin County or face trial in Mexico.
Pasco Authorities said Mexican authorities are holding him in connection with the Pasco murder that happened June 27th, 2006.
Witnesses told police that Pulido Padilla was shot to death by Vaal Lopez in her home.
Pasco Police have been working with U.S. Marshals to arrest Vaal Lopez. The Franklin County Prosecutor said if he is brought back to the United States he would be the third person captured in Mexico and wanted for murder in Pasco in the past two years.
Lowe said, "There are two parts, one is finding them and the other is getting warrants from the Mexican government. I think the second part is much easier now than it ever has been in the past."
Lowe said it is easier because the Mexican government is cooperating more with United State Authorities.
