KENNEWICK, Wash. -- The Kennewick Police Department will soon have a new home. At the old station on Dayton Street, even closets and storage places had been turned into offices. Plus, KPD's staff has doubled since its old station opened in 1990.
The new station will be across from City Hall, where a softball field is now. It will cost about $10 million and should be ready in about 13 months.
Police say it will offer more room to process evidence, interview suspects, and train officers. The Department will have a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday at 1pm.
