Yakima, WA - There are only two places to apply for a passport here in Yakima. The post office on Washington Avenue, and the Courthouse from the Yakima County Auditor. The auditor says that they're getting twice as many passport requests as they were at the same time last year, causing some major delays. It can take months to get a passport, and for an extra fee you can try and speed up the process. But that extra money doesn't guarantee that you'll be able to get one much quicker. One man was renewing his family's passports, sent them off, payed the expedite fee and still had not got them back after seven weeks. The auditor recommends that you plan ahead when getting a passport. If you have a trip coming up this summer, apply for a passport now.
