Shooting in Toppenish leaves one man dead

TOPPENISH, Wash -- One man is dead and another wanted after a shooting in Toppenish.

Police say Ezequiel Reyes was leaving work when he was shot about two o'clock this morning. The 25 year old man was an employee of the General Store on West 1st Ave.

He was shot multiple times, and was taken to Yakima Regional Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Police say they aren't sure why Reyes was shot.

"At this point we are still exploring a lot of different possibilities," said Detective Paul Logan, of the Toppenish Police Department, "but based on the evidence we gathered at the scene, it probably wasn't a robbery."

Police say a witness saw the shooter. The suspect is a Hispanic male, about 5'8 ft, with a medium build and dark hair. He was wearing a baseball cap and a sandy brown polo shirt. He fled by foot East down 1st Avenue.
