KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Firefighters say your clothes dryer could pose a huge fire risk. Kennewick Police say you should clean out your lint trap regularly and make sure you check the back of the dryer for any debris.
They say you should also make sure the area in front of the dryer is clear. If there is a tear in your lint trap, you should immediately replace it.
If you don't firefighters say, you could pay the price. Washington State Fire Marshals say firefighters responded to 175 laundry fires last year, totalling more than $2.6 million in losses. Fire marshals say the little time you take looking at your dryer could save your life.
