Yakima, WA - Several members of the Yakima city council flew to Washington D.C. Last week to lobby for grant money from the federal government. One of the city services highlighted were the emphasis patrols. This is a fund set up to give police overtime to target problem areas in Yakima. The government was so impressed with the plan that it could be used as a model for other places around the country. The funding will be about 500-thousand dollars. The council expects this measure to be approved very soon.
