HERMISTON, Ore. -- Police in Houston, Texas are once again working with Hermiston Police to make a big Marijuana bust in Oregon. Police confiscated a package filled with more than 21 pounds of marijuana. The drugs have a street value of about $63,000 dollars.
Last Friday, Hermiston Police arrested three people for having a 6-pound bag of pot sent to them from Houston. Police say Wednesday's package was mailed to the same address on Orchard Street in Hermiston. New charges will be added to the seven each suspect already faces for Friday's bust.
Chief Daniel Coulombe says "6 pounds is a very significant amount for us. 21 lbs is obviously a lot more than that. It's the largest seizure we've had in any single case at least that I'm aware of in Hermiston."
Hermiston Police have to do a preliminary test on each pack of suspected marijuana. A tiny sample is put in a vial and if it turns a dark purple, it is probably marijuana. Hermiston Police will continue to investigate the situation to find out if more people are involved.
