Tri-City Union Gospel Mission Receives New Mattresses

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash. - Some men at the Tri-City Union Gospel Mission can now get a better night's sleep.  Thursday, The Sofa Gallery donated 10 new mattresses to the shelter.

Plus, the gallery said it plans to donate another 10 in the next 4 to 6 months.

The Executive Director of the mission said he's grateful to have them. The last time the mission got new mattresses was nearly a decade ago.

"Men need a good night's rest if they're going to go get a job in the day. And we've been on old mattresses for a lot of years," said Don Porter, Tri-City Union Gospel Mission.

"We're a local business and the Tri-City Union Gospel Mission is a local organization, and those two should go together," said Leroy Nelson, Owner of The Sofa Gallery.

Right now the mission has 45 beds, and they use all of them this time of year.
