Drivers Complain about Construction Along River Road in Yakima

YAKIMA, Wa -  Drivers are complaining about the damage construction along River Road is doing to their cars and trucks.

River Road has been torn up from 16th avenue all the way down to 34th.  The city is widening the road to improve traffic flow and accessibility.

Drivers say potholes and loose rocks have been a big problem.

"They say some pretty mean stuff," says Fina Harralson, a flagger with Columbia Concrete.

Harold Huffman lives at the Evergreen Trailer Park and drivers up and down the road four or five times everyday.

He says he's complained to the city, but he says they told him he has to deal with it.

"I've had rocks spit up at my car.  I cut two tire on my truck," says Huffman.

Harralson says people may be complaining now, but widening River Road will improve road conditions in the future.

"There just isn't enough access."

The road conditions won't be getting better anytime soon.  Construction is not expected to be finished until July at the earliest.
