TRI-CITIES, Wash. - Internet blogging is new way people are voicing their opinions. But some businesses are concerned bloggers are tarnishing their reputations.
Some companies are worried bloggers spread vicious rumors, or flat out lies and they don't know how to make it go away.
If you're one of the battered businesses. Here's a few tips.
First, consider the source. If it's credible, as a company, you need to respond. Some worry that makes a bad situation worse, but the Better Business Bureau said consider what consumers think when you say nothing at all.
"When you go out and talk to someone and they say no comment, the public's perception is they're hiding something, and that may or may not be the case, but perception is reality," said Jane Quintrell, Better Business Bureau.
The bureau also said blogging doesn't seem to be disappearing anytime soon.
One option companies might try is resolving remarks with the blogger directly.
