KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Two people were sent to Kennewick General Hospital after an accident in Finley. Troopers and deputies responded to the intersection of 397 and Bryson Brown Road.
Authorities say a 23-year-old man fell asleep at the wheel after working a 12-hour shift and crossed over the center line. The driver of the other car says she was able to swerve and get out of the way.
Troopers say her quick actions probably saved her life.
Two of Rachel Dickinson's family were in one of those cars. Dickinson says, "I was coming up to the accident and talking about it, saying it would be scary if I saw them and it was them. My heart stopped beating and I jumped out of the car to see what was wrong."
Troopers say the two that were taken to the hospital did not suffer life-theatening injuries. They say it's extremely dangerous to get behind the wheel when you are tired.
