Children Found, Father Arrested
WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Authorities all over the Northwest have spent hours upon hours searching for Remi and Lars Baugher and after the six day search they have been found.
It all started Saturday March 24th when the kids were last seen with their father in Waitsburg, WA.
Police said the couple has been going through a custody battle. The kids were supposed to be dropped off at their mother's house Sunday afternoon but they never showed up.
Sunday night authorities issued an Amber Alert.
Monday there was still no sign of the kids or John Baugher. Police found his van abandoned near Ford, Washington, which is north of Spokane.
From there it is unclear exactly how they got to Missoula, Montana but that is where Baugher and the children were spotted on McDonalds surveillance video and there was evidence that he used an ATM near the airport.
Police think he altered the children's appearance. In Walla Walla the children's family pled for their safe return during a press conference.
Cousin Maggie Gerling said, "Any information is beneficial. These children need to be home with the family that loves them."
Baugher made his way from Missoula to Salt Lake City and was eventually captured on a broken down GreyHound bus in Idaho Springs which is a suburb of Denver.
Law enforcement from all over the Northwest and the FBI worked together on this intense search but the children are expected to return home to Walla Walla soon.
