Reporting crime online

YAKIMA, Wash -- Have you ever seen something suspicious, or just plain fishy, but didn't think it was worth reporting to local law enforcement.

Beginning today, you can easily report illegal activity to the Yakima County Sheriff's Office through their website.

To use the anonymous tips form, all you need to do is put in the address where the activity happens, a description of the activity and those involved.

You can also leave your information if you want the deputies to contact you, but you can remain anonymous too.

David Thompson, Chief Civil Deputy, Yakima Sheriff's Office, says this will make deputies more efficient.

"If something needs immediate attention we can email that directly to the supervisor or the deputies in the field and have them look at it same day."

You don't have to use it just for crimes, you can report abandon cars or loose animals too.
