KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Congressman Doc Hastings was in town today and he talked about recent democratic bills on the war in Iraq.
The Congressman has spoken out many times on the Congressional floor or in meetings around the state in favor of supporting our troops, but today, he said new democratic bills would handcuff troops and not give them the best chance to succeed. He says congress must act now on Iraq.
Hastings said, "We need to fund our troops and we need to get their funding as soon as possible and not micro-manage what the generals are doing in the field."
Right now, the House and Senate need to reconcile two bills that call for different troop withdrawl dates from Iraq. These bills are attached to the one that would provide the $100 billion necessary to pay for the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
