Two Men Accused of Stealing Iraq Statue Start Trial
Yakima, WA - 43-year-old Robert Pearson and 25-year-old James Hooker are charged with stealing an Iraq memorial statue back on Monday November 13th.
The statue was put up on July 4th last year as a tribute to soldiers from the valley who have lost their lives fighting overseas.
The two suspects were arrested after part of the statue was found. Police say that Hooker and Pearson then told them that the rest of the statue had been thrown in the Yakima River. It only took divers a few minutes to find it.
Today the two men will begin their trial for that crime.
