Hanford Cheerleaders Named Best in the Nation

RICHLAND, Wash. - The Hanford High School Cheer Squad was recently named National Cheerleading Team of the Year by Cheer Limited. The National Selection Committee rated teams based on a comprehensive portfolio of accomplishments including academic achievement, cheer skill and community service. The Hanford girls and Coach Kim Mayer will receive their award during the National Cheer Conference May 17-20 in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

"It is a well deserved honor for a dedicated group of girls whose commitment to excellence makes our school and community a better place," said Principal Todd Baddley.

Members of the Hanford High School Cheer Squad are Elizabeth Reyes,
Megan Huber, Ashley Keever, Carly Cooper, Sarah Leanderson, Alyssa Clary, Kristi Murphy, Rosslyn Luke, Megan Bono, Katie Dehmer, Maggie Hubele, Racquel Watkins, Kelsey Wehner, Bethany Daffe and Alyssa McElroy.

Other recent honors for the HHS Cheer Squad:
  • First Place, WIAA Washington State Cheerleading Competition, 3A Medium Varsity Division - held March 22 in Yakima;
• Seventh Place, USA National Cheer Competition, Medium Varsity Division - held March 24 in Anaheim, California.
