New Abandoned Car Law

Posted: Updated:
KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Area police say abandoned cars can be a common problem. In Kennewick, the cars have to be marked with bright orange tags, their owners located, and in some cases, impounded.

Yesterday, the Washington legislature passed a bill that would help get these cars off the streets. Under the new law, vehicles and trucks with expired registration over 45 days will be immediately towed.

City and state officials say the new law will make streets safer and cleaner. The bill now heads to the governor.
