KENNEWICK, Wash. - Witnesses told police they heard a woman screaming for help from an apartment complex located at 8 Auburn Street in Kennewick early Sunday morning.

They apparently looked up the apartment stairwell and said they saw a man pushing the woman into an apartment.

Witnesses told police they yelled to the suspect, 37-year-old Anthony Gordon, and said that they were going to call the police.

Police said he allegedly turned violent towards them.  Witnesses said pushed and hit them with his fists.  Police said he drove off in a truck.  Witnesses told police they wrote down his license plate number.

Kennewick Police Sergeant Scott Child praised the witnesses.  Child said, "Great job getting license plate.  We were able to hold this gentlemen accountable for his actions."

Kennewick officers report that they tracked him down just blocks away from where the assault happened at 4th and Olympia.

He was arrested for driving under the influence, assaulting the woman and the witnesses.

No one was seriously hurt.
