KENNEWICK, Wa.,--Earlier this mornning, police received a report of a disturbance on the grounds of the Hilton Garden Hotel in Kennewick. Hotel employees told police that several people were arguing and causing a raucous.
Before law enforcement could arrive on scene, six shots were fired, causing damage to two vehicles, the building exterior and injuring one man in the leg. Kennewick police say numerous law enforcement agencies and resources were involved.
"This was a huge tax on our agency," said Sgt. Scott child. We had every patrol officer up there. We actually had to call out additional patrol officers because we still have additional responsibilities when we're trying to investigate this."
Child also says that 30 people were originally detained although only 9 were arrested. All suspects live in the Seattle area. They are being charged with failure to report a violent crime. And its likely that additional charges will be added once the investigation is finished.
Hotel management declined comment. However, a hotel guest said she believes this event is completely isolated.
