One Man Hospitalized in Yakima Shooting

Yakima, WASH - Police say shots were fired after a gang from Tacoma and a gang from Yakima fought on South 10th Avenue and West Pine Street Wednesday afternoon.  After questioning people taken into custody, who were thought to be involved, investigators determined a fist fight started the altercation then one of the gang members shot a shotgun twice.  The shot put 30 to 40 pellets into a 17 year old man's back, who police say is one of the gang members from Tacoma.  His injuries were not life threatening.

An eight month pregnant woman who lives down the street says she heard bullets go by her house and that is what she got down on her front lawn for safety.

A nearby business says they heard two shotgun blasts then some smaller noises that sounded like a handgun.

Yakima Police are unable to confirm whether or not a handgun was involved at this time and are still investigating the situation.
