RICHLAND, Wash.- The HAMMER facility could be taking a new shape and expanding its training base.
Congress is considering legislation that would force the Department of Homeland Security to look into training new border patrol agents at HAMMER.
Congressman Doc Hastings is pushing for the change.
Hastings says HAMMER's one-of-a-kind training makes it ideal for more border security training.
The facility was originally built to help train Hanford workers, but since then it's gained so much recognition they've trained officials from nearly everywhere around the world.
