Another Judge Change in Hilton Case

KENNEWICK, Wash.- Only one judge remains after another change in the retrial of a man accused of killing his landlords in 2002.

Kevin Hilton was previously convicted of killing Larry and Jo Ulrich over unpaid rent.

Last week, Judge Dennis Yule was removed from the case and judge Cameron Mitchell appointed.

Now Mitchell recused himself because he knows the victim's daughter.

That means there's only one judge left.

Lawyers say if the final judge isn't able to handle the case, it's not clear what would happen.  It's up to the courts.

Hilton was convicted of the murders in 2003, but the State Supreme Court overturned the conviction earlier this year saying search warrants were too vague.

Key evidence seized in those searches cannot be used in a new trial.
