YAKIMA, Wash. - A handful of local sports celebrities were in Yakima Friday night at the Clarion Hotel to raise money for the Parker Youth and Sports Foundation.
Local fans paid ten dollars to get in and mingle with the legends, who all have Yakima ties. The Parker Youth and Sports Foundation raises money for local parks and sports associations.
Attending were 5-time Mr. Universe Bill Pearl, Olympic gold medalist and professional boxer Pete Rademacher, college Hall of Fame baseball coach Bo-Bo Brayton, and Yankee great Mel Stottlemyre.
Rademacher is excited to be back to his old stomping grounds and raise money for local sports. He says sports keep kids on the right track.
"You can't beat sports, he said. "To develop personality and quality manhood and womanhood in an athlete- than in the field of sports."
Bill Pearl claimed he didn't have two tickets to the gun show, but "had his guns right here."
It was the second year for the fundraiser. Saturday they will hold a charity golf tournament.
