Fever Blow Past Blitz 54-49; Move into First Place

BAKERSFIELD, Cali - With just :30 left in the game the Tri-Cities Fever recovered an on-sides kick to seal their victory over the Bakersfield Blitz. 

The Fever now move to 4-3 on the season and come back home for next week's battle against Texas.  They are 4-1 in conference and moved into first place with the victory.

Fever QB Brian Baker had a strong night going 15-30 for 235 yards and 7 touchdowns. Baker also tossed 2 interceptions. WR J.R. Thomas and newcomer WR Deontrae Johnson were running wild all night long. Thomas had 5 catches for 122 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Johnson caught 6 balls for 66 yards and 3 touchdowns. Johnson was named the Schutt Offensive Player of the Game.

LB Emery Beckles was named U.S. Army Ironman of the Game. Beckles finished with 2 tackles, 2 interceptions and he added 98 yards on kickoff returns.

Bakersfield FB/LB Nick Onaindia (Utah State, '01) finished with 5.5 tackles, 1 forced fumble, 3 quarterback hits and 2 sacks. DB Brian Green (Miles College, '01) had 2 tackles and a key interception.
