Two Types of Graffiti in the Tri-Cities

Posted: Updated:
KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Police say graffiti is a continuing problem in our area. But they say it comes in two forms. One type of graffiti is called malicious mischief and is usually done by kids and has little to do with gangs.

The other type is gang-related and can be much more dangerous. Gang members use the graffiti to mark their territory and it often draws rival gangs to come spraypaint over it.

Kennewick Police say about half the cases they see are gang-related and the other half are committed by kids. Gangs tend to use certain symbols and colors.
