Yakima, WA - Senator Jim Clements announced today that he is re-running for state senator. At the announcement he spoke passionately about his hope to push through the Mendoza-Aguilar bill in next legislative session. That's a law that makes tougher penalties for people who run from police. It's named after two kids who were killed by someone eluding police in Yakima last fall. Clements also wants to make sure a plan is in place to help farmers if the growing season goes bad. Celemnts was actually a state representative until January when he was picked to replace retired senator Alex Deccio.
