$700,000 Dollar Budget for Fighting Crime

Yakima, Washington - This morning city councilman Neil McClure will present his plan to spend the $700,000 dollar budget the city is putting towards fighting crime.

McClure's plan is expected to be a combination of the two that were presented to the council two weeks ago.

Micah Cawley proposed "plan A," that would put more officers on the streets. He wants to hire seven new policemen, a crime analyst, and purchase three new police cars.

While Susan Whiteman and Ron Bonlender suggested a plan that would also bring in a crime analyst, but it adds two fewer officers to YPD's force and one fewer police car to its fleet.

Whiteman and Bonlender want to use the extra money to add a municipal court clerk and put 80-thousand dollars towards prosecution.

McClure thinks his plan today will please everybody, as it is a hybrid of the two proposals.

None of these plans will cost any money to the Yakima tax payers.
