KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Benton County fire officials have pushed up the fire danger to high. That means dry grasses could very easily ignite. They say the combination of recent hot temperatures, low humidity level, and the dryness of the vegetation has made a wildfire more likely.
Benton County Firefighters say the high danger designation is basically a warning to the community to be careful.
A high fire danger means people should only be burning for agricultural purposes. If you would like to know if your fire is allowed, call the Clean Air Authority at 946-4489. We'll repeat that number later.
