Yakima, Wash. - Two straight days of rainfall has left the water level in the Yakima river two feet below flood level. This makes for dangerous boating conditions
High water level speeds up the currents, which can push a boat into a rock, or cause a boat to capsize.
Experts at J Marine say never go out on the water when the level is this high. If you do, make sure you have a boat like a kayak that you can tip back over. Bring some sort of signaling device, like a flare and, as always, wear a life jacket.
