Kittitas Police Confiscate 116 Marijuana Plants

Kittitas, WA -  Small town cops make a big pot bust.

Kittitas Police confiscate 116 marijuana plants from a man who claims he was using them for medicinal purposes.

The plants filled up an entire evidence room.  The estimated street value is $5,000 dollars, but police say if the plants were fully grown the value would be much more than that.

Police say the man showed them a prescription for medical marijuana which had expired.

"It seemed a little odd to me that you would have that many plants for a 60-day supply if you were using it for medicinal purposes," says Police Chief Mike Studer of the Kittitas Police Department.

The suspect had been growing the plants in his apartment at Cahill Manor on Parker Avenue in Kittitas.

He has not been formally charged yet and police did not arrest him because they say he isn't a flight risk.
