Franklin County Want Firefighters In No Mans Land

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Wash. - A group of Franklin County residents want a volunteer fire district in their area because there are no responding firefighters where they live.

Monday night they held a meeting to discuss their plan of action.  There are currently 600 residents that live between Sagemoor Road and Ironwood Road in Franklin County that do not have fire protection.

They expressed concern about losing their homes and property if there was ever a fire in their neighborhood.

Members of Franklin County Fire District # 3 attended the meeting to help the group get started.

They are proposing plans for a possible Franklin County Fire District # 5 that would be made up of volunteers.  Resident spokesman Jim Jacobs said it is extremely unsafe for them not to have any protection.

Currently, residents who live in the area have to pay more for insurance because there is no working fire department.  They have petitions and are trying to raise money so they can put the question on the ballot and ask voters what they think about a possible fire department in the November Election.
