KENNEWICK, Wash.- Washington Senator Patty Murray is making another push for better funding for the Walla Walla VA.
A few years ago the VA promised a new, modern facility in Walla Walla, but Murray says they aren't living up to that promise, so she wants to hold them accountable.
Murray has added language to a senate bill that would fund construction of a new outpatient clinic in Walla Walla.
It also asks the VA to look into building a long term care facility.
"We're very concerned that they're going to continue to pump this down the line when we have veterans who are in the Walla Walla encatchment area who need to know what the future of that facility is," she said.
Just a few years ago, the VA recommended shutting the Walla Walla facility down.
Murray says that could be catastrophic because this area's veterans need some sort of long term care facility.
