With Emery Out, JR Gets Puts in the Fire

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash - He was released from last year's Tri-Cities Fever team, only to return this year as a star kick-off return man.  Now, Emery Beckles' will watch from the sidelines again, this time trying to rehab a dislocated shoulder.  That means, stand-out wide receiver J.R. Thomas will be returning the kicks for the Fever this Saturday.

The only bad thing is that for almost two weeks the Fever have either not practiced or they've practiced outside at Richland High School, without any nets!  "I'm very comfortable back there, it's a feel thing.  I'll get back on the nets Friday and start practicing again," says J.R.

Coach Wells says this is a great decision for the Fever to make.  "People don't really know this, but JR for the past two years has led the league in returns.  He's our ace.  He's the best returner in the league, bar none."  Coach Wells added, "But you know Emery is gonna be bugging me to play."
