Arson Suspect Told Police He Was Investigated For A Previous Arson

Toppenish, WA -    The suspect in a Toppenish apartment fire that killed two people admitted to police that he has been investigated for arson in the past.

Raul Amaro was arrested on an unrelated gun charge and remains in custody.

KNDO has obtained an affidavit which says Amaro's ex-girlfriend implicated him in the fire.

The afadavit says the fire started in the area where she lived in the building.

She also said he has been investigated for a previous arson, Which police say he later admitted to when they arrested him.

Police say it could be weeks before Amaro faces any arson charges.

The Washington Crime Lab needs time to process evidence from the fire.
