Seahawks Blue Tour Comes to Kennewick for Father's DayPosted: Updated:
KENNEWICK, Wash.--The Seattle Seahawks have chosen the Tri-Cities as one of four locations for the First Annual Seattle Seahawks "Blue Tour". The Seahawks Blue Tour will be held on Father's Day, Sunday, June 17, 2007, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Columbia Park near the Playground of Dreams. All Blue Tour events are free and open to the public. Other cities hosting the Blue Tour activities are Everett, Bellevue and Spokane.
The Blue Tour was created by the Seahawks to recognize their fans as their "12th Man" and to thank the communities for their passion and support. Components of the Blue Tour include an autograph session with a current player or alum and Sea Gals, visits with mascot Blitz, and kid friendly competitions with inflatable toys in the Kids Zone. Children will have the opportunity to sign-up or renew their membership in the Seahawks Kids Club, and to compete against the clock in an obstacle course. Other contests include "Family Spirit," and "Name that Seahawk,"; and a Father's Day drawing will be held for a variety of prizes including an autographed football, a signed mini-helmet, and four game tickets and pregame sideline tours.
In addition, the City of Kennewick will paint an NFL regulation-size football field in the park toaccommodate the Gatorade Junior Training Camp; a three-hour, children's instructional football clinic, and motivational sessions with current Seahawks or alumni. The Blue Tour will also include two cheer and dance sessions, with instruction from the Sea Gals. The football camp and cheer/dance sessions are open to children aged 8-14 years, however, both require pre-registration. The football camp is limited to 300 participants; and 50 per session for cheer/dance. Pre-registration is being accepted on a first-come, firstserved basis for the Gatorade Junior Training Camp at the Seahawks official website, www.seahawks.com.
KidsZone/YouthFootball.aspx. Mid-Columbia Gymnastics & Cheer will also be accepting pre-registration for the cheer/dance sessions on a first-come, first-served basis at 509.735.3861.
"Our community has long demonstrated its support for the Seattle Seahawks, and the Bureau is pleased that their staff chose to bring the Blue Tour to the Tri-Cities. The Seahawks Blue Tour will offer a Father's Day filled with family activities; and allow our citizens to show their enthusiasm and support for Seahawks football," said Kris Watkins, President & CEO of the Tri-Cities Visitor & Convention Bureau.
