YAKIMA, Wash.- Governor Christine Gregoire will be in Yakima Monday to kick off the ground breaking ceremony for phase two of the 'Downtown Yakima Futures Initiative'.
The state has funded one million dollars to help with the project. The goal is to revitalize downtown Yakima and attract more businesses to the area. After the groundbreaking, Gregoire will spend some time at the Capitol Theatre. That's where she'll sign House Bill 2388, which provides about 15 million dollars to help improve the theatre. The Capitol Theatre is considered a key issue for the renovation of downtown Yakima.
