Mt. Rainier, WA - The body of Jeff Graves was finally retrieved Tuesday night after it was spotted in the afternoon around 3:00 by a helicopter. Rescues teams got to the body at Eagle Peak around 4:00, and positively identified it as Graves.
The discovery of his body brings a sad ending to a three day intense search, that involved 60 individuals, including 20 ground teams and a helicopter. Rescuers say it appears that Graves was one his way down from Eagle Peak, left the trail, and fell 200 feet.
It's worth noting that graves was on a day hike in the summer, so this differs from the climbers that went missing earlier this winter on Mount Hood. Graves was 47 years old, and he leaves behind a wife and a 7 year old son.
