One-Man Band Scam Operation Unwrapped

Posted: Updated:

AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wa.,--Airway Heights police have Michael Patenaude in custody. They say he is the one-man band behind All about Signs.

Restaurants and taverns in Texas, California, Montana and Washington were priority targets.

Police say Patenaude carried a laptop to mock up potential sign designs for businesses. He required half of the payment be made up front.

"He's targeting certain kinds of businesses that, from time to time, can end up being fairly busy and things can be kind of distracting," said BBB Communications/Investigations Officer Zan Deery.

Police say Patenaude also sold fake raffle tickets on behalf of "the New Life Foundation" in Missoula, Montana.

People became suspicious when all of the tickets had the same number. If you know anyone victimized by Michael Patenaude, please contact Airway Heights police.
