Local Marine Injured in Iraq

TRI-CITIES,Wa.,--Sergeant Joseph Daniels was on foot patrol when another marine accidentally stepped on some kind of explosive device.

Daniels injuries are not considered to be life-threatening. He suffered a serious concussion along with shrapnel wounds to the leg.

A family friend said that Daniels spoke with his mother and wife today. He said it's no big deal and that he can't wait to get back out with the guys.

Daniels is a 2001 graduate of Riverview High school. This is his third tour of duty overseas. The Marine Corps. is conducting an investigation as to what actually caused the explosion.

Sergeant Daniels now lives in san diego where he is stationed at Camp Pendleton. His wife is pregnant and is expecting the couple's first child in August.

Family and friends are asking for prayers from the community.
