High Heat Means the Elderly Need More Attention

With temperatures as high as they are it's important to take care of the ones who may not be able to take care of themselves. It is crucial in this time of extreme summer temperatures that people make sure to check up on their elderly friends and relatives to make sure that they are prepared for the hot conditions.

In such high heat elderly people need a watchful eye to make sure that they stay hydrated and cool. It is also important to make sure that they are prepared for the high tepratures and take care of themselves properly.

Linda Beagles, communications relations at the manor says to make sure they have lots of cold drinks, water bottled water in the refrigerator, maybe even an ice chest full of ice in case the electricity goes out and just check on them regularly.

Be sure to make daily phone calls to those that may need help during the summer heat and if errands to need to be done try to get them done early in the day when the sun is not at it hottest.

Just like people pets need extra attention in the summer heat as well. Make sure they have plenty of shade and water during the day. And never leave your pets in a parked car because they can be potential death traps during the warm months. Temperatures in parked cars can rise to more then 112 degrees on a sunny day.
