RICHLAND, Wash. -- Drivers in Richland should prepare for more construction on Thayer Drive. On Monday, crews will begin the Lawless Drive Construction Project, a project designed to ease traffic as drivers approach Aaron Drive at Thayer and Wellsian way.
Right now, some stakes are the only indication of one part of the new construction, a new road right behind Fred Meyer that will connect Thayer Drive to the Wellhouse Loop. With the new road, Thayer Drive will no longer directly connect with Aaron Drive.
City officials say with the area's closesness to I-182 and SR 240, it is an important place to clear up. The new project will also put new sidewalks on Aaron Drive and a new signal at Aaron and Wellsion. The new project will cost about $1.5 million, with most of it paid through the state's gas tax.
