Planned Parenthood Uses World Population Day to Focus on Male Responsibility for Family Planning
Kennewick -- Wednesday is the United Nations' World Population Day. Planned Parenthood of Central Washington is using the time to focus on men, and to encourage them to use Planned Parenthood's services, ask for information, and pick up free condoms if needed.
Anna Franks, CEO of Planned Parenthood of Central Washington said only fourteen percent of men in the United States visit health care providers for reproductive health and family planning questions. She emphasized that Planned Parenthood offers everything from condoms to testing for STDs, to vasectomies.
The theme of World Population Day this year is "Men at Work." The goal is to illustrate the pivotal role men plan in family planning, raising children, and creating sustainable communities.
