WALLA WALLA, Wash. - More Britons might be planning a trip to Walla Walla, thanks to a very favorable article in the London Times.
The article, called "America, but not as we know it," ran in the London Times July 1st. It encourages British tourists to see more than just New York City and Disneyland when they visit the U.S.
Walla Walla's Woodward Canyon is one of two wineries specifically mentioned in the article. It's owned by Rick Small and Darcey Fugman-Small. Fugman-Small says their marketing is working, and this international attention validates what they're doing.
"I think it's great." she says. "Both the Washington Wine Commission and the broker that we use have been working really hard in the London market, so it's nice to see this pay-off."
Fugman-Small says they haven't had many Britons stop by yet, but they've had quite a few press.
