PROSSER, Wash.- More than 200 firefighters are fighting the Horse Heavens Complex Fire, and they need to eat, and an interesting group is preparing their food.
A group of inmates from Olympic Correctional Center is doing the cooking and firefighters say the healthy meals keep them alert and energized on the firelines.
"We've, I've always had a great relationship and always had a positive experience with them in camp and they've always been willing to support us," said Lt. Todd Meyer with the Gig Harbor Fire Department.
The crew brought in their mobile kitchen.
They routinely spend their summers traveling between fires to cook for fire crews.
