PROSSER, Wash.- Wildfires often take firefighters hundreds of miles from home, and their new living accomodations aren't exactly perfect.
Firefighters at the Horse Heavens Complex Fire are staying at Housel Middle School in Prosser.
More than 200 people from around the northwest are still camped out.
A temporary tent camp houses the firefighters on the school's soccer field.
Crews say it's not the ideal life, but at the end of a tough day, rest is rest.
"You're away from the majority of what happens outside of this, it's, it's, uh, i guess in a sense it is its own little world," said one firefighter.
The firefighters say they do stay in contact with their families.
